Our Story

When we looked back at our life together, all of our most important moments were framed by adventure. Our third "date" was a week-long trip to Puerto Rico and our fourth was a two week road trip through eastern Europe. We became engaged in Nicaragua and eventually wed in an ancient lava field in Iceland. Foreign lands, cultures and people are what have greatly enriched our lives and we want to share that with others.

However, traveling and settling abroad was not an "easy" process. After years of navigating foreign bureaucracy and learning local laws, customs and regulations, we came to a conclusion: there isn't one reliable and all-inclusive source for global families. Whether you are looking at a long-term move or a short-term stay abroad, you need to research your destination thoroughly and plan confidently.

We created this site to be the resource we wish we had.

Today, we live together in the heart of the Black Forest with our child and two dogs. Ashton completed her PhD in Geography at the University of Freiburg with a background in architectural history and teaching. Jonathan is a senior design engineer for a cycling company in the Black Forest.
